Maintenance

Maintenance is important to get the expected life out of your roofing system below is some recommended maintenance procedures provided by the NRCA and us to ensure the most out of your new roofing system.
Tips to follow recommended by the National Roofing Contractors Association:

  • Inspect the roof at least twice yearly, preferably in the spring and fall.
  • Inspect all roofs after severe weather or storms.
  • Clean debris from all roof drains.
  • Remove leaves, twigs, cans, balls, etc., which could plug roof drains.
  • Notify the roofing contractor immediately after a roof leak occurs.
  • Do not allow foot traffic on the roof in very hot or cold weather because damage may result.
  • Do not allow the installation of television or radio antennas, satellite dishes, mechanical equipment or other roof penetrations without notifying the roofing contractor and membrane manufacturer if the roof is under a manufacturer's warranty, and consulting with them about the methods and details of these installations.

Tips recommended by Brian Sikes Roofing, Inc:

  • Watch for discoloration or dampness in your ceilings and walls because this could be a sign of a roof leak.
  • Do NOT pressure wash asphalt roofs because this can remove granules from the shingles on your roof, which could shorten the life of the shingles.
  • Watch for any rotten or decayed wood around the perimeter of the roof.
Look for any loose shingles or broken or missing tiles because these will need to be replaced to prevent future damage.
